I have already begun to prepare for the coming term at Centennial. This will be my 21st year of teaching high school English and my 8th year at OCHS.

I am going to be teaching our school's first ever Advanced Placement: Literature and Composition class. I taught AP Lit at old John Marshall High School.  I want to dispel the myth that Centennial students are not able to work at the AP level.

To prepare for next year, I attended an education conference in Dallas that focused on critical reading. Next week I will go to another workshop put on by the Gear-Up people to teach "authentic learning."  Gear-Up works to prepare students for college. Next year they will work with the 10th and 11th grade. I will be teaching at least one class at this grade level.
